Referred by a past client, we designed this coastal Maine modern farmhouse for a couple with deep regional roots and a large extended family. Their vision combined traditional New England character with modern comforts and spaces tailored to their love of cooking and entertaining.

At the heart of the home, a spacious living room features soaring ceilings, clerestory windows, expansive walls of glass, and a prominent stone fireplace. A large cupola with automated windows responds to temperature and humidity, naturally releasing warm air and drawing cooler air into the home.

The generously sized professional kitchen was designed to make cooking a shared experience, with an intimate seating area where guests can relax and socialize without interrupting meal preparation. A pass-through window serves an adjoining three-season porch, while an expansive deck extends the living space outdoors.

We also went to great lengths to source reclaimed wood flooring from a local barn, carefully resurfacing and refinishing it to bring warmth and authentic New England character to the interior.

Thoughtful site planning extended the outdoor living areas toward a shared neighborhood green space, encouraging interaction with neighbors while preserving the openness of the landscape.

The result is a timeless modern farmhouse that balances traditional craftsmanship, innovative building techniques, and the owners' unique lifestyle.
